Coating choice is an engineering decision. Here is how environment, access and lifespan shape the specification.
Environment first
Dry internal warehouse steel, washdown areas and chemically aggressive process zones are three different problems. Specifying one system across all of them either wastes money or fails early.
Preparation carries the performance
Most premature coating failures trace back to surface preparation, not the paint. Blast profile and cleanliness determine whether the system ever gets a chance to work.
Design for re-coating
Steel that cannot be reached cannot be maintained. Access for future re-coating is worth designing in while the structure is still on paper.
